Valentine Willinger: Weather.com (put in your zip code) is the best I know on-line. But I suspect you'll get the same delays there as you were complaining about.The national weather service has a constant radio broadcast out where I am on Long Island. It's primary use is for boaters, however. If you are concerned about a possible tornado, or something similar, tune into the nearest non-robot AM radio station. Which I could do better....Show more
Antone Bual: You can download the www.weatherbug.com desktop thing that alerts you when there are warnings, has updated radar, hurricane tracker, etc. I use that for live stuff. However, for a detailed forecast, I would recommend www.noaa.gov.
Aron Ramu: Those sites get their weather conditions that are reported at local airports mostly. The airports only update their weather c! onditions at about 5-10 minutes from the top of the hour. For example, if they update it at 4:53, then the next update wouldn't be until 5:53. They only issue a new report unless the weather changes significantly within the hour. Such as the wind direction changing more than 30 degrees when the winds are greater than 10 knots or the ceiling falls below 3,000 feet and any changes in the ceiling below that height will require a special report. I'm a pilot and when I fly, I do not get current weather information at airports that I am departing and arriving into. The most current information I can get is wind direction and speeds but that is only if the controller is not busy....Show more
