Rebbecca Sorkin: Technically you don't have time. Its not like you werent aware when it expired. All you have to do is take the new registration in and they will drop the ticket
Raye Tredennick: Registration is valid until the LAST DAY of the month stated on the sticker. Therefore, "Feb 2013" tags are good until the last day of February, which means you're 11 days past-due. Go ahead and complain to the police station, they won't do anything for you. Go renew your registration and bring the paperwork to your court appearance. They may or may not drop the ticket.
Madge Voice: Feb 2013 usually means that they must be renewed BEFORE the last day of that month. You have been riding around for 11 days on expired plates. What did you think would happen? Ever hare that "Ignorance of the law is no excuse"?Or do you think that the police officer, who deals with these things every day, does not know how to do his job and can not write a simple ticket for expired tags.! Be thankful you only got a fix it ticket. He had every right to write you a ticket for driving a vehicle with expired registration.
