Cooking Meat Question?

Jefferson Sarson: The cooking gets rid of most of the bacteria.so, go ahead.

Emilie Santmyer: I myself always slow slow cook my turkey and I do cook my onions seperatly. But you still get the same flavor since I fry my onions and peppers in it's own juice. You soon end up with a almost of a glaze and after half the slow cooking time(2 hours) I Pour it on top of my turkey and brush it on top. It simmers and cooks with out any transmitted contamination.

Emery Blando: When cooking any ground meat let it get half way cooked then add your onion or other veggies so they pretty much get done all about the same time. By doing this your not gonna get Ecoli. Just make sure the meat is totally done all the way thru and your good to go.

Peter Lapoint: I personally cook the meat with the onions...the onions simmering seem to give the meat extra flavor. I have never had any problems doing it this way.

Toby Caswell: As long as you are cooking the turkey all the ! way until it's done, add the onions with it - it will meld your flavors together and you'll be fine!

Elli Esaw: i like cooking my onions while browning my meat...they get really tender and add tons of flavor...as long as you cook properly until done you should not have to worry bout ecoli etc

Sharee Doak: Depending on what you are making it is a good idea to lightly cook your onoins (saute) before adding the meat to cook.Happy cooking

Shandi Wedge: My suggestion would be to add the onions to the almost cooked turkey about 3-4 minutes before the meat's done so you don't wind up with over cooked onions which is what you'll wind up with if you start them at the same time. Don't worry about cooking them together in terms of safety.
