what the differance between PDA and handheld PC?

Chris Coggins: Is the same thing, because hand held is similar to a palm top or a dell axim. The closest thing to a generic cross between a pda and a phone would be the blackberry which is a contacts manager but also has email capability. If you meant the small tablet pc, then thats about as small a computer you can find with no optical drive/floppy drive, and its not a pda but a complete pc. Nowadays devices try to incorporate the best bits into a single device eg. a mobile phone which acts as a pda for addresses/appointments/alarms, applications such as excel in particular the O2 type phones. As similar to the other portable phones whereby a mobile phone vs hand phone vs cell phone. They're all the same thing but called different names in different countries. There's a convergence in features for these new technology toys so much that in future a cell phone can be accessing email and have a huge contacts database, a music player (MP3), stores photos, a camera built in ! (very common), a radio (walkman phones) etc etc....Show more

Alisa Kaleiwahea: Basically, a "handheld PC," better known as a "Pocket PC," runs Windows Mobile, whilst PDAs are traditionally made by the company "Palm" and therefore run completely different software. As a result, software made for a PDA will not work on a Pocket PC and vice versa. If you have to decide between the two, I would recommend the Pocket PC as all the new software is created for Pocket PCs as the graphics and the GUI (Graphical User Interface) is much better. Hope this helps!...Show more
