Will VCRs ever make a comeback?

Porfirio Gartland: sure ...along with disco and the 8-track

Catheryn Barringer: heck no...this is the new century..

Jesse Japak: No, there is no reason to.For home taping, DVD recorders are becoming the norm, HDD based DVRs (often from a provider) to record TV for time shifting, and plain or blu-ray DVDs for movies, TV series, and general video distribution.

Donte Schoenhals: It is unlikely. As other delivery options (i.e. DVD, on-demand streaming) become more popular and compaines phase out VCR production, VCRs have basically become pawn shop fodder.Does this mean there is no more use for VCRs? Yes, but only if you deem them useless. I've read of parents copying DVD movies to VHS cassettes for their children to use (since tapes are more durable in normal usage). You could use a pre-existing VCR in a security setup instead of putting money towards a newer system. There are other things, too; just think about it....Show more

Lu Tiner: No, I do! not see that ever happening again.

Kris Otuafi: No - the only people who will want them secondhand will be folks with massive video tape collections.Alas, they have gone the way of cassette tapes, vinyl records and join Betamax in the history books!
