what is an osteotome sinus lift for dental implant?

what is an osteotome sinus lift for dental implant?

answers 0:Is this a traumatic procedure ?answers 1:An osteotome is the instrument used to perform a sinus lift. They are like small chisels used to prepare the bone for a bone graft and creates a space for the implant to be placed. I have personally had two sinus lift procedures done for implants. The first one I had done caused a moderate level of pain, and the second one I had no pain at all. Mostly, I was just very sore after the procedure. Always ask your surgeon to explain any procedures that are going to be done on you as they know your specific situation. I hope this helps....answers 2:A sinus lift is when the surgeon goes in and lifts the floor of the sinus cavity to make room for an implant. Implants cannot extend into the sinus cavity because it is hollow and implants have to be anchored in bo! ne. It is a very common procedure.Hope this helps. I have more info on dental implants on my site, http://www.bridgerdds.com/ToothImplant.aspx...
